Somerset Patriots vs Bowie Baysox

The Bowie Baysox (The AA Team of The Baltimore Orioles) defeated The Somerset Patriots, (The AA Team of the New York Yankees) last night 5-3. Starting pitcher for The Patriots was the 16th overall prospect for The New York Yankees Organization. He was signed as a minor league free agent back in 2018 from The Dominican Republic. He pitched 2.2 innings and allowed 6 hits, 4 runs, and struck out 3 Bowie Baysox batters. The Somerset Bullpen gave up 1 run and struck out 8 Baysox batters. The Patriot’s batting order scored 3 runs vs The Baysox pitching. Somerset 1st baseman Mickey Gasper hit a homerun off Baysox pitcher Justin Armbruester. New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton batted second and started as the designated hitter for The Somerset Patriots. He went 0 for 3 with two strikeouts in the first game of his rehab assignment & was scheduled to play Sunday as well. New York Yankees number 1 prospect shortstop Anthony Volpe went 0-4, struck out once, & walked. Volpe was drafted by The New York Yankees in The 2019 MLB Draft. He was out of Delbarton High School in New Jersey. He is also the 5th top overall prospect in all of baseball. One final note on The Somerset Patriots, New York Yankees prospect Austin Wells played college baseball at The University of Arizona, the same college as Riverside alum Tyler Casagrande. Bowie Baysox starting pitcher Justin Armbruester went 5 innings allowed two hits and gave up one run. The Baysox bullpen gave up 2 earned runs and struck out 5 Patriot batters. Baysox Centerfielder Colton Cowswer is The Baltimore Orioles 4th best prospect in their organization and he also is the 43rd overall best prospect in all of baseball. Sunday in the final game of the series Somerset defeated Bowie 13-3.
