Super Bowl LVIII Welcome Press Conference Statements

"Welcome to Las Vegas. This is a special day, especially coming up that we're looking forward to for a long time. I've been in this town for 37 years, the last time we've been elected. We have the ability to displace in the United States in the world new things. I think uniquely. You'll see it this week. One of the things that was so good about this time is we deal with scale and this is very well. We do hotel rooms and 1000s when others are doing. We deal with distances of quarter miles and a half miles instead of many Miles. Miles half an hour to the east. We have airport economics in the west and have a beautiful new 60,000 seat stadium.
This talent is really built to go and do the job that we have great people to do as well. Great.
Thank you so much for you to tell us from your industry. It's a pleasure to serve with Maury as vice chair to host committee. On behalf of Mark Davis and the Las Vegas Raiders. We want to thank you all and welcome in Las Vegas. Well, I think your husband needs to see and we know it's going to be an incredible week. Anyway, again, remember, I wanted to definitely say to depart remember I was at the National Football League for your incredible collaborative partnership, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority of Clark county in the state of Paris really read everyone should be working together to make sure this is going to be a week that are close again. Last but certainly not least, we have to take a debt of gratitude to be able to breathe and especially if you're going to Las Vegas to help us pull this off. In the Super Bowls committee CEO Sam Joffrey who's led an incredible team of 15 employees or even a small group as we put this on, and over 300 subject matter experts in every single area in Southern Nevada. So thank you so much,Sam, committee of your leadership and for your honesty putting us on thank you so much. You guys are great. Providing Bell Hooks, first of all, thank you, Chairman Pete for that squared compliment and we appreciate that very much. And thank you, Maureen and Sandra for your leadership. As Chair and Vice Chair, the host of many. You have set the tone and you've been incredible partners, Senator wearing two hats. We are going to hopefully have a Raiders hat and the Raiders. Mark Davis and the Raiders are why we're here today. Without them and without their commitment to this community. We would not be here today so we could not be more grateful for that partnership and according to your leadership. And Sam, Sam as the as the president, CEO of Sam Joffrey, that team, have trio incredible leadership in everything that you've done. And we wouldn't be here without the people sitting here. Governor Barlow. Thank you for your leadership at the state level. Chairman Dixon, you in Clark County have been with us every step of the way, considered a true partnership. So thank you very much. And steep hill the only CDA from the very beginning. multiple events here in this market. Really, really true partner. So as I'm proud to stand here today, on behalf of everyone in the National Football League, we could not be more excited to kick off Super Bowl 50 A week here in Las Vegas, the first ever school in Las Vegas. This is a big deal. And we're incredibly proud to kick off this week. As you know, the teams are on the ground. Both teams are here. They have settled in and we've got an incredible matchup, a match of two teams vying for this beautiful trophy right here. And one of the ahead this will be clearly the focus is on Sunday at Allegiant stadium, and that incredible stage that we have, but this is a week that is jam packed with accessible fan activities members report and words there. For fans who may not be able to be in Allegiant stadium on Sunday. This week is packed. So the more than 20,000 fans will be in there tonight will be able to experience the Super Bowl fully dressed. You've seen the outside dresses to beautiful graphics and beautiful decor on there. But this will be man's coming in to experience the Super Bowl stadium and all its glory with all of the media. They're both participating teams, all the coaches a great night to set the tone for the week. And then after that, our simple theme park opens up right next door here within this convention center Super Bowl experience presented by our former Toyota and that is a theme park. An accessible way for fans of any age to come in and experience the NFL and be part of school week. The events are two minutes a day and there are hundreds when we think about taste for the NFL Super Bowl soulful soulful celebration, NFL honors, just a litany of great events for people to be part of. You've probably seen a bit of the Superbowl takeover. Thanks to our partners here. This is becoming a truly Superbowl city. You see it on the side of Caesars Palace 65,000 square foot video projection every night there you see the way the spear has been transformed into a suitable wallet for official partners with their messages on their every evening taking over the LTE long strip and single message in that reference solution station. Some of the biggest hits if you err on the side of school stadium that we've ever done. This is clearly a sports town i'll be with that. But obviously it's entertainment town as well but nothing is more synonymous with Superbowl than an entertainment as well. So yeah, but music school at that time shadow washer is in the throes of full on rehearsals, including at the stadium that is headed to an incredible show on Sunday. A pregame that will have just some great special moments, the powerful voice of honor day singing that every voice and sing Post Malone singing America the Beautiful, iconic country legend Reba McIntyre singing our national lifestyle when supplying performing our official NFL tailgate, and on and off in terms of the entertainment elements and the way sports entertainment come to life in this town really unlike any other"

have a two part question for you here. What is your favorite thing about this team and what is your favorite football memories with your brother? My favorite thing about this team is the resilience the ability to snap and clear and to find another way to win you know it's it's not easy getting everybody's best shot in the NFL, but um I'll tell you what, when you when you go through those ups and downs and you're resilient and you find ways to keep coming together as a team as a unit that chemistry you just want it that much more for the guy next to you as one of this team. My favorite memory with my brother, unfortunately probably isn't his favorite memory, but it's been on a mountaintop and playing in the Super Bowl with the advice he's ever given. The best advice my brother ever is if you say that again, I'll kill you. That one, no one hit home for me. And I did. Say it again.

Question : What is the hardest Thing about being a kicker?

Answer : hardest part about being a kicker is not doing much the entire game and then at the very end of the game when your teammates are all injured and tired and exhausted, you trot out there and you have the field goal that decides whether the team wins or loses so there's a lot of pressure there and you never want to be the goat in the bad sense. The best part about being a kicker, I would say is the fact that you're not getting injured. You're not doing a lot of physically taxing things throughout the game. But mentally you got to be locked in for sure.

Question : Why did you want to play as a kicker and what is it like to be
apart of a group of kicker that played in the Super Bowl Era?

Answer : As far as I think, with only 32 teams or 32 kickers, there's not many of us. And we talked before all the games normally and all seasons will, we'll get together. I mean, for all the guys that come out of college there at the combine together They probably went to the same kid camps together. And I think it's important to be able to have other kickers you can discuss different things with and pick their brain about I mean, there's not a lot of teams that have kicking coaches. So I'm thankful to have Tommy talented and to be able to talk with and talk about different ideas. I was a soccer player, and I didn't really want to play college soccer anymore. And I remember going to some high school football games and thinking well, this atmosphere is really cool. I wonder if I can play and I didn't understand football so I knew I couldn't be a receiver or safety or something. So I gave kicking a shot and was pretty decent and really enjoyed it from there on. I was gone

Question : What is like to play for a Historical Quarterback Franchises in NFL History?

Answer : I mean, just want to see the logo in photos or videos and on film that I get to where the 49 year logo for me it's like it's a dream. You know, you think of Joe Montana. Steve Young and all the grades that have come and so for me it's a dream, like I said and and I get to live it out and and I'm just very grateful in general. So it's a rich history of an organization and and I want to continue to help that history grow in the right way.

Question why have you always wear the number 13 is there a specail reason behide it?

Answer : My dad grew up in Miami Dolphin family loved Dan Marino. And so when I was growing up, my dad always shouted, you know, teach me to throw like with a quick motion like Dan Marino and and I was like, You know what number was even said 13

Interview with San Francisco 49ers Running back

Question : Christian what extices you the most about playing on the toughtest defense in the NFL in the Kansas City Chiefs?

Answer : Yeah, they're great, man. I mean, they're, they're a great defense. They've they've been playing well all year. They're consistent. They're well coached. They fly around. They bring a lot atcha so obviously we'll have our hands full

Question Question : Last Question for you Christian what it like to have to play agiasnt another staford alumi in the Super Bowl?

Answer : he's a stud, man. I think he's definitely somebody that you always have to circle whenever you're playing against him. He's smart, he's physical. He tackles well, and and he knows where to be. And I think linebackers are a lot like running backs in that sense. And you have to be able to play off the D line, which he does well. And I think because he's so experienced, and he's been doing it a long time.
There's a lot of advantages. to that and just an exciting football player.

Answer : Feels amazing, so the may still feel like a dream. You know? It's what you live for an NFL player. This is the platform you want to be on this weekend. Everybody wants to be a part of so you know it's unreal
been a long time coming obviously season year 14 It's been up and down journey but it's all been worth it man. What trade it for the world the perfect time. I guess I'm just super blessed

Question : What has it been like to play for Head Coach Kyle Shanahan?

Answer : just just watching them says the day he walked in and how he carried himself how he died just the playbook process and decision making. You know he's really what you see is what we've been seeing every since you know the day you got here

Question : What are you most excited about? The matchup on Sunday?
Answer : Wow, we got two marquee teams that really back up what they bring to the table if you look at how they got there, I mean Kansas City, please in in this era of design parity, they probably are the closest thing to a dynasty and they weren't that good offensively throughout most of the year. Defense carried them, but Patrick mahomes finally got a couple of guys to step up. One being Isaiah Pacheco with that hard running style and the other Rishi Rice's getting it done. So now that's opening it up for Travis Kelce. To do what he does, because he's more of a freelancer on the other side of the horn, San Francisco. They probably have as many Swiss Army knives as you will find on a team guys who are just football players, debo Samuel Christian McCaffrey, IU, kiddo. So I think me come back from a 17 point deficit. Clearly they can handle pressure. Patrick mahomes. It's in his DNA. So we've got a great marquee matchup on paper, but we know the game is played on paper, but I'm hopeful for a real good matchup. Does that make sense?

Question : Yes, yeah,
you know, you know, Brock Purdy was the last pick in the draft, you know, the underdog? What's it like to see that kind of story? So who was the last pick, in the NFL Draft  leading their team to a Super Bowl?

Question : I love it. Oh, oh my god. I love seeing that. Because what irks me is how many people are trying to deconstruct you guys when he doesn't have as opposed to accentuated and complementing what he's brought to the table. I know they use the term game manager derogatorily I love what Chris long how long sunset. He's a game executive. He's getting it done. He's bringing it to the table. He's got a nice calm demeanor that many will say as a matter because he's a deep man of faith. I don't see him getting rattled, and to come back from a 17 point deficit to get there. Look, he belongs here and I'm glad he has a great story. And I just hope people will just appreciate him for what he is. Okay. And then my final tell I'm a little irked about them. You know, but it's almost like with Lamar Jackson before and Lamar Jackson when he won the MVP 2019 They were calling him I didn't even know your boys old school and square. They were calling him quarterback. He I didn't know what that meant, because it was saying he's nothing but a running quarterback. When excuse me, he was the best thing out there who was at Marquez, Valdes scantling one time, one of the all time tweets I've ever seen when he watched him and he's a football player. Now, he didn't even use a verb in his tweet. He just says eight different and is but just as they wanted to change his position, which they did for so many black talented players, quarterbacks coming out of college. They wanted to change position, Lamar and his mom said no, he's a quarterback. And what is he done since then? He has matured. He is a talented, Braille rounded quarterback and had some weapons to work with. Kansas City. Just played a superb chess game with them to force them with fewer possessions to have to really press blood for that fumble by very blase flowers. Thank you, sir. You know, Hey, would have been a different game though. But so the point that I'm making about property, just give him his credit because it looks like a choirboy people want to say, okay, don't have a cannon arm boys fast. Boys playing give him credit. You know, you can tell him real hard about that. Try to come up with some better the writer I'm going to try to script it better than that when I get on the air before folks, but that's from the heart.

Question :  Kind of a two part question is what makes your team so special and CBS and for somebody a young man or young woman that wants to be in your shoes one day? What advice would you want to give them?

Answer : So for me because I never played the sport, I play basketball, but it's the same fundamentals. My high school coach Morgan Wootten first high school coach to go into the Naismith Hall of Fame, for what he did only at the high school level, brilliant, one of the best motivators I've ever met. At any level, read our back. God bless him. I know I'm old school and I'm calling these old names back, but he said he was the best coach on any level. John Wooden of UCLA, my high school coach said, fundamentals never change. They're tried and true. So make sure you got the fundamentals. People don't tune in to see me, but I got to be on top of the game and the storylines to elicit the best out of them. My job is to make them look good, and we all look good, and they also happen to like each other. At first, our boss was thinking that Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms really didn't like each other. That's the locker room and now they've got it so they see and can appreciate it. But I'll close with this. How long my colleague when I was at Fox had a great comment. He says you can't have too many quarterbacks in the same room at the same time, because they are divas.

Interview with CBS & former NFL player JJ Watt

JJ Watt joined CBS Broadcasting after playing for The Houston Texans and The Arizona Cardinals from 2011 - 2022.

Question : JJ what's your favorite part about these two defenses that are gonna play in the Super Bowls?

Answer:  D line guys so it's all about D lines. I mean, Chris Jones and those guys on the chiefs and and obviously you got Armstead and you got Hargrave. You got boots on the other side. So I love watching the offensive line play and these guys are no different.

Question : what is what's the favorite thing about being part of this broadcast team.

Answer : It's a lot of fun, that knowledge. I mean, when we sit there on Sundays, and after our pregame shows done, we sit and we have all the screens in front of us and we watch all the games just to sit there and watch games with these guys and for us all of the tossing out ideas and thoughts and what we think about the game. It's like it's like, football heaven because it's the most brilliant minds who have been there who know what it's like, and we're just talking through ball I mean, it's just guys being dudes, you know?

Interview with CBS Bill Cowher

Former Pittsburg Steelers Head Coach Bill Cowher joined CBS in 2007 after leading The Steelers to a Super Bowl win vs The Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XL

Photo Credit & Copyright: BURG Sports Network/Michael Ferrara
Question : What's your favorite thing about this matchup for the Super Bowl?

Answer : They have two different styles of offense. And one's a very, very a lot of motion. But it's a lot of different options. Running game built with a play action behind it. And other offensive like I think with the scene without Patrick going to spread ya know, that one's a little bit more condensed. In other words more spread out.
So the contrast of the offensive and then you know,

Question : Coach Andy returned to go to for a while. What's it like to see him throughout the years
as he continues to coach with this team?

Answer : Just how he continues to to elevate he's continuing to conform and adapt to his teams. He's not afraid to take his strength and go on offense was last time you see any real sudden revert back to a running game with Isaiah Pacheco because he kind of gives it an identity. So I just love the fact that he's a he's a type of guy that to me, he's adapts to his football teams, a great teacher. A great motivator was a straight division titles Spitzer himself and then my final question for you.

Question : As You know, they got new faces, you know, pick it, you know, JJ Watt. What's it like to see these new faces you know, from the old guys, you know, like Hines Ward, you know, Ben Roethlisberger. See these new faces? And what do you built the Steelers will do in the draft.

Answer : Well, I see what's available. In the draft and see what happens with free agency. I think they'll have a lot to do with it. Phenomenal. Lesson. Oh, Pittsburgh, it's probably the toughest division of football right now. They gotta get more stability on the quarterback position. And I love the addition of Arthur Smith as a coordinator they got a very solid defense right now the guys continue to retool revamp, particularly in the secondary, I would think the offensive line played solid so I owe that graph our way but I think the big key will be the ability to me if I get into the draft to get a playmaker I don't think maybe even the defensive front end. I think it builds from the inside out. And I think Arthur Smith is a good addition. So let's see what's a day we'll see what happens there free agency. See who's available and I think I know Jeff ops. Great job.

Interview with Nickelodeon star, as the voice of SpongeBob SquarePants, Tom Kenny

Question :  SpongeBob had to tailgate a Super Bowl other than crab paddies. What would he make?

Answer : Oh, other than Krabby Patties? Let's see probably some kelp fries. I bring some kalpoe cereal. And yeah, that's about it. That's about it. Maybe maybe something a kelp shaking coral fries.

Question : So overall for the game. What are you most excited about the matchup between the 40 Niners and the chiefs?

Answer : Well, I spent my 20s in San Francisco is a stand up so I'm you know I'm just all my friends that are still there are super pumped that the Niners are in this year. And that city was so formative to me, and was so nice to me when I was a knucklehead stand up trying to figure out, you know, my way and so I'm just I'm just thrilled that they're in it, but I don't know, man, I like Casey too. You know what I mean? You know, I'm a Swifty. I'm more of a Swiffer. Like I'm kind of a mop like a sponge. So I'm more of a Swiffer than a Swifty.

Question : But my last one for you here. You know SpongeBob has been going on for a very long time you guys get to do a Super Bowl. Now. Did you expect that ever when you first started?

Answer : No, like you can never expect this weird stuff that comes out of left field. But I will say like the whole 25 year journey of SpongeBob. And the great like, to me the best gift that Steve Hillenburg gave me when he cast me as that character was that, you know, a you get to be the voice of this character that that a generation of people has a lot of affection for which is really nice to be that for people. And the other thing is SpongeBob is just wound up and all these places that I wouldn't expect him to be you know, we've waving the flag in a NASCAR race and like a hit Broadway show. And now we're at the Super Bowl, and it's just, you never know where SpongeBob is gonna end up. And when you're the voice of that character, you know, you got to get dragged into all these like crazy adventures. And you know, 25 years later, it's still it's still going on. So it's kind of cool that a job that you've been doing for 25 years, still has all these new, you know, dimensions and read, you know, new stuffs keeps popping up and like okay, you're SpongeBob but doing SpongeBob in this place. You know, with this new wrinkle to it. And it's it keeps the job exciting and fun. You know, it's never it's never boring. I'll say that. Well, than

Question : Growing up among high sport athlete How is playing in those different atmospheres
help you for the biggest atmosphere of all playing in the Super Bowl?

Answer : Um, I think it's just playing all the sports learned. It taught me how to compete. It taught me how to learn how to make things happen to make adjustments on the fly, and then it's all kind of evolved into the way I play the quarterback position, being able to fill out space and and make the past like a point guard or throw across my body like shortstop I mean it just learning how to compete and adjust on the fly and make things happen is definitely something that's helped me become the player that I am. What are the things that you
show him how to be a defense like take whatever

Question : I have a two part question for you here. What is your favorite thing about this team and what is your favorite football memories with your brother?

Answer : My favorite thing about this team is the resilience the ability to snap and clear and to find another way to win you know it's it's not easy getting everybody's best shot in the NFL, but um I'll tell you what, when you when you go through those ups and downs and you're resilient and you find ways to keep coming together as a team as a unit that chemistry you just want it that much more for the guy next to you as one of this team.
My favorite memory with my brother, unfortunately probably isn't his favorite memory,
but it's been on a mountaintop and playing in the Super Bowl

Question : When did you realize the moment of this team was special?

Answer : Um, I feel like we've been specialists in sales and it we've had a great nucleus of guys. Kyle and John have drafted a really, really good very high level, especially with the guys who we've been able to keep round and grow. I would say if you're specifically just talking this year, I think that was our expectation after they have last year ended and how are we able to keep a lot of the guys that are key guys just get brought back to being healthy. So we thought it was last year didn't happen, unfortunately, injury and then this year, we just kind of went like hey, this is like it wasn't like a week five, we were like oh yeah, click. We kind of felt that way the entire season.

Question : And then final one for me. You know, Battle of the tight ends you versus Kelsey. How excited is that for your physician to have that in the Superbowl?

Answer : You know, it's great. It's funny because like, it's not really me versus him because we don't touch the field at the same time. But I get why you know, he'll make those comparisons. But I think it'll just be kind of fun for football fans to be able to watch two guys who love the game and play at a very high level and go out and just have some fun out there. What's your relationship like with Travis if you guys sort things

Usher's Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show
press conference quotes

"It has definitely been a challenge to squeeze 30 years of music into 13 minutes," he said with a laugh.
"I was very mindful of my past, celebrating my present here in Las Vegas, and thinking about where we're headed in the future."
His residency brought Atlanta culture to Las Vegas and although he has a North American tour kicking off in August, Usher said he may not be done with Sin City just yet.
