Interview with former
New York Yankees first baseman
Tino Martinez

Question : So first question for you to get the Thurman Munson award,
you know, and you said you love Diane, what's that relationship like with her family?

Answer : Oh, it's great. So I've known Diane for for many years now through the old timers days. She's every old timers day for the last 20 something years. And I get to talk to her every year and say hi to her and tell her how much you know 30 months and fan, but also like I said earlier playing for loop Panella. Being around
Ron Guidry been around Willie Randolph to hear the stories about 30 months and
what a great guy he was a great player he was. He's quite an honor to get this award.

Question :  Well, do you have a favorite story that they've ever told you about permission?

Answer : There's quite a few they've told them you know, some can't be told but some can. One was, I guess, when they got Reggie Jackson, you know, Reggie Jackson was there in causing trouble a little bit early on and I guess the boss moved him to hit fifth on the lineup. And Reggie wasn't happy about that because he's a fourth hitter, and is a little bit of ego that comes along with being the fourth hitter and Reggie wasn't very happy so he wasn't playing well. So I think Thurman Munson Luo Panella history, they all went up to George office, but you never do. You never go to the auditor's office. They went up there and knock on his door and they didn't know what they're doing out there. And they said, they said, Hey, Bob, we got a problem here. He said, terminals back and forth at the time. He said Reggie's got about four. He's just a fourth hitter. He's not gonna happen, gotten fed. He's not going to produce so put me in the fifth spot. But before spot he said after that, right, you just took off and they want a couple of months.

Question : You know, you're playing baseball for a long time you being with the Yankees winning World World Series. Now, you know, with you, Rivera, Bernie, Jeter, &  Posada
what what's it like to still keep in touch with those guys and look back on your career with us?

Answer : It's great. It's always it's always great to look back on it. You know, the thing is, when we did play during the era, we never looked back at what we did the year before. We just played a year by year. And then when we got done with it, we all retire we realize what a great team we had looking back on if we never were satisfied with the way we're doing it and we didn't really know where the heck was happening while we're doing it.

Question : And then my last one for you, you know, today's kids, you know, Judge, you know, Stan, what's it like to see those guys playing the pinstripes like you did before?

Answer : Oh, it's great. You know, because judge is such a great guy. Your calls a great guy. They're all good human beings and you want to see them succeed. They want to be Yankees. They want to play in New York. So you just root for them and you want them to do well.

Post game interview with St. Joseph's Head Coach Billy Lange and players Erik Reynolds II & Cameron Brown

Opening Statment from Head Coach Billy Lange

"Two things and then I'll let you guys get to the to the varsity show here this is the JV game speaking first. You know, number one, I just honestly praise God that I get another day of coaching Krieger guys they're just entities to you know, they've endured a lot here to just get to this point. And they're just faithful believers. I don't have any other words to say and so they just had the blessing to get one more opportunity. One more meal together one more film session together. One more conversation with someone that just keep going. He gets the glory for that, right, because it can end at any second. The second thing is, and it really is a testament to how good our conference is. That's a great team. That's an NCAA tournament team. And so, you know, the world has to get it right. You know, we just keep projecting all the meats into the NCAA tournament. And so I've been in that position before where you have an amazing season, and then you got one game to try to prove your worth and value and it's not right and our whole season shouldn't be judged by that for Chris to come back from what he dealt with last year. To have a whole new roster to get those guys in Richmond is no joke school. My wife went to school there and she's not mad at me though. But since she went to school there and it's like hard to get those guys through and they deserve a lot of credit. And the ball goes in or it doesn't and a lot of times we decide how we feel about a season based on that. But that's an NCAA tournament team. Whether we are or not remains to be seen, but that is and it's unfortunate that our conference is not getting the recognition nationally that it should. That's a really, really good team. And I just think that we should celebrate the season they had a heck of a season and that's what makes this a really good win for us".
Question : Kind of a two part question for both student athletes. Can you guys kind of talk about the team chemistry, it seemed like you guys were not fazed at all when you were down? And you know, not a lot of people get to play in an NBA arena. What's it like to kind of play where the Brooklyn Nets get to play?

Cameron's Answer : I mean, it really is a first of all to play in a Barclays Center and it's pretty awesome. But a lot of talent played on that court. We played at Wells Fargo earlier this year. So that was probably a good precursor for playing the Barclays. But as far as team chemistry goes, this one was connected teams ever played with I mean from one to 15 we all hang out with each other. We all play video games together. We all talk everybody connects with each other in some some sort of way. So just just to stay together with each other throughout the whole game. It's not hard at all. And we've been in a lot of close games this year. If you look at our schedule and all the scores so this is just like another day at work for me. So it's fun to do.

Erick's Answer : Honestly couldn't say any more about it.
