On March 11th at 1:05 pm in West Palm Beach, Florida our first spring game of the 2023 season was between the St. Louis Cardinals and the defending World Series Champions, the Houston Astros. Due to the WBC (World Baseball Classic), many of there superstar players from both teams were playing for the national team, including Adam Wainwright and Kyle Tucker.  Both teams did have some superstar players that didn’t play in the WBC, including Alex Bregman, Carlos Contreras, Jose Abreu, and John Flattery. Today's starting pitcher for the Houston Astros was  Forrest Whitley  and for the St. Louis Cardinals was Jack Flattery. Flattery struck-out batters and only allowed runs. The Astros starter went four innings, struck-out five, and allowed run. The Astros runs were scored by Jose Abreu, J.J Matijevic, & C.J Stubbs and   and the Cardinals run was scored by Willson Contreras & Brendan Donovan. It was also noted that the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals share the same Spring Training stadium.  Below are some quotes from the Astros and St. Louis Cardinals mangers and players.

"In his first couple of outting, but he was he was at is max today. And you know, Stubbs knows him too. So that's why I kind of messed him up and he he threw the ball well today. I mean, we didn't help him a couple plays on defense, but, you know, he threw strikes. You know, he had pretty good control. The strike is only really changing. You know, I don't go on the whole spring. I go on the last and hopefully build off.  What he can do is put himself in contention for for what we may need some multiple innings. And I know for a guy out here, but he was a starter and they made it really river a good reliever. So now we're trying to stretch him back out for you know, for possible need".

Postgame quotes

“You just can’t let those things get to you. You’ve got to move onto the next pitch. If you let those things affect you, the next thing you know two bloop hits turns into a home run. Now, you’ve got three runs on the board because you’re upset over something like that. You’ve just got keep making pitches. I’ve been there before.”

"So great. My just workout was the workout workouts this offseason,
were great. Got a good routine down. Got a great staff. This has been helped me ramp up
and get ready to go for the season but overall the offseason buildup was great. And ready to play".
