Interview with
Army Head Football Coach
Jeff Monken
Opening Statement : Welcome to the Army Navy game and he's right. It's always like that we've we had a 14 point lead and one second ago. They're standing there knocking on the door with a chance to tie the game up. Unreal, but proud of our team. What a great win. Both teams just fought like crazy. This was great about the game there. Their players played hard and played their hearts out. Ours did too. And fortunately, we came up with a play there at the end and and I got away with the victory. So the turnovers were big, obviously. I mean in that drive on the first half of the interception and the strip sack for touchdown. Both big plays but really proud of our team really happy to to be able to bring the commander cheese trophy back home, which is a that's a source of pride for for our program and for our entire Academy to be able to claim that trophy so proud of our guys. We started out pretty rough at the beginning of the season and our guys had just continued to battle and won four in a row here at the end of the season, including the two that we needed to win the commander cheese trophy. So glad to be taking them back home.
Question : Coach the Defense came up today made some big plays
& Can you talk about what you're most proud of of your defense today?
Answer : They they did it they just did a really good job of stopping the run. Credit to Navy and they did a good job of it and surpasses they were We were playing. We were playing a little soft on the perimeter trying to keep the ball in front of us. We didn't we felt like if we kept the ball in front of us that we were going to go when we were going to be able to win the football game not get something thrown over our head when they brought lava tie and they seem to be more effective running the football with him running his own follow and those kinds of things. But I'm proud of our defense for the way they defended the run. Because I think that's where it's gonna start if you especially in these games, if you can be effective stopping the run you're going to give yourself it's going to give yourself a great chance to win the football game. So they came up with some big plays obviously the turnovers were huge. Those are those are a difference in the game but the interception has stopped the drive. In the end the the strip sack Those are big place.

Question : Question for both of you guys. As they kind of mentioned before, the history of being here in Foxborough, can you kind of talk about from the historical sparks perspective?
And can you talk about the defense impact today?
Leo Lowin's Answer : You're more of a history. Yeah. No, I know Boston has a rich history with like American history. And so obviously it's an honor you know being to to service academies able to represent the nation represent America especially in you know, obviously just like you said, a rich town Britain history. And so I know I know Boston is near the ocean, but I guess you know, it's good to get an army when are you so carried off
Kalib Fortner Answer : That I mean, think your second question was about the defense sir.
And the impact that made today he was it was Blackflame mentality all day long. You know, I was saying out there on the field that we didn't have the start we wanted to but you know, we hit mid stride right there against Air Force and we just we picked up steam and you saw what you saw that today. The entire game day crew

Question : For both of you guys. You mentioned the seniors can you kind of talk about what this one means for you guys and for the seniors?
Bryson Daily Answer : Yeah, so for seniors means everything you know, like we've had coach VT he still talks about his last Army Navy game and he Sr. That has come before us. They talk about what happened in their army they began whether it's a win or a loss that sticks with them forever. So allowing them to go out on a good note is just awesome for those guys and allowing this momentum to carry us forward as we continue throughout our careers is awesome. And you know, we're never letting that trophy leave West Point again.
Quindrelin Answer : So me as a freshman, you know, a lot of seniors Mike came in and took me under their wing, show me how things go. It's how this place works and the culture here. So being able to pay that back to them and really give them this win and send them off the right way is amazing. You know, some of them been here for five, six years, including the prep school, so it's just amazing to be able to give them this one.
